About Sawmill Creek

When founder Greg Hill opened Sawmill Creek Resort in 1974, his vision was to create a hotel that reflected Ohio’s unique history, culture, geography and wildlife within a cozy, rustic environment.

Drawing inspiration from Native American tribes local to the area as well Arts & Crafts Movement decor, the Lodge is home to a collection of historic artifacts, artistic representations and recreations of Ohio’s distant and recent past.

A respect for history isn’t just limited to suite names and color scheme: Each piece has been sourced with care, from log-walls cut from local trees and milled in Amish country to the wall hangings and landscapes commissioned from local artists and craftsmen.

Nestled on the shores of Lake Erie, the 240 room Lodge, 18-hole Tom Fazio Golf course and 50,000 square feet of flexible meeting space are set on 235 acres of affordable luxury. Amenities include four restaurants, a shopping center, a 176-slip marina, indoor and outdoor pools, beautiful lakefront sand beach and a 500-acre nature preserve.

Sheldon Marsh State Nature Preserve is home to the last remaining Ohio example of a Great Lakes coastal wetland; adjacent to Sawmill Creek Resort, and part of our trail walk, the superlative mix of habitats makes for an unforgettable hiking, biking or birding trip.

Vacation time doesn’t have to be spent in silence; guests seeking excitement can find plenty within Sawmill’s campus – or just across the lake. Stay close to the lodge and find live music, watercraft rentals and fine dining or visit Cedar Point, Put-In-Bay or tour local wineries.
